Growing Up in America: I Didn’t Want to Die

I didn’t want to die.  Honestly.  I didn’t want to.  Life, while complicated, is all we have.  At least in the moment.

Poem: I Am From Cigarette Butts and Burnt Toast

I am from mixed sources and mixed genes
Mixed families and mixed faces
Mixed values and mixed messages
Mixed histories and mixed futures
Mixed colors and mixed minds

What Integrity Means to Me

Doing what is right, regardless of who is watching. It is sometimes more difficult to do what is right when people are watching or encouraging you to do wrong. Integrity takes strength and courage. You have never arrived, so you must always strive for it.
